Does divorce mediation make sense for you?
When a couple seeks to resolve outstanding issues with the support of an impartial mediator, divorce mediation, like collaborative divorce, can provide an alternative to costly litigation. Unlike collaborative divorce, however, divorce mediation is overseen by a single, shared mediator.
Mediation is a negotiation between you and your spouse. The process is typically a single, neutral mediating lawyer who advises and guides both parties through the process of identifying and valuing marital assets and in developing fair and equitable child custody plans. The mediation structure offers parents the flexibility to test out appropriate parenting plans and custody arrangements, which may be adjusted to reflect changing needs without the court's intervention.
